Casey Stengel

(Charles) Casey Stengel was a good baseball player in his major league career lasting from 1912 to 1925, but he is better known for his spectacular managing career, which lasted on-and-off for a span of three decades.

Most notable was his 1949 to 1960 stint with the Yankees where he led them to an amazing seven World Championships and ten pennants. By the latter part of his managing career, Casey was known as “The Old Professor,” and his unique types of quotes were labeled “Stengelese.”
